A fundraising lunch held February 1, 2010, at Faith Livestock, Faith, S.D., raised several hundred dollars for Ken Knuppe, Republican Candidate for Governor.

“The community of Faith was very generous and seemed truly eager to visit with me,” Knuppe said. “I appreciate the Vance family at Faith Livestock for allowing the fundraiser to be held at their barn and for the chance to visit with their consignors and buyers,” said Knuppe. “I also appreciate the ladies who prepared and served the great food. We had cheesecakes from Hermosa, buns from Bison and pies and bars from all over. One family was still out of electricity, but they fried rolls on their woodstove for the fundraiser!” said Knuppe.

According to Knuppe, the town of Faith and surrounding towns and communities had been out of electricity for a couple weeks and then out of water for several days just prior to the fundraiser. “I can’t believe people still showed up even though they had just gotten their power and water back on. I know they were extremely busy trying to catch up at home. I was really grateful to see that they made the effort to come to the fundraiser anyway.”

Knuppe said he addressed the crowd during the sale and answered several questions from the audience. “Everyone seemed pleased to know that I am just an ordinary working person, not a lawyer or a professional politician,” Knuppe said. “I visited with the Mayor of Faith, Glen Haines about their new fire hall and community center and their school situation. Faith is definitely a prosperous town,” said Knuppe.

Knuppe will spend most of the week visiting with people at the Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City and plans to attend several Meet and Greet events at auction markets in Yankton, Canton, Platte and Aberdeen, S.D., next week.
